8/1 (MLA-BOH)
The flight back had a lot more empty seats. My original seat was 7A but the window had some scratches on it, so I asked the flight attendant if I could move and they said it was OK for the cruise. So I chose seat 5A. As the flight wasn't full we were able to climb to FL400 and many other planes were cruising below us.
Not much traffic for the first hour of the flight but as we hit the Alps some contrails became visible.
Also some nice cloud formations. I hoped to catch an aircraft with the mountains in the background, but no luck.
Then just after we passed the Alps, an Air France RJ85 came into view at FL330 routing CDG-TRN. This was quite hard to spot against the clouds below.
Two contrails in the distance racing towards the Alps.
We then turned 45 degrees West and the sun was shining on my side, allowing for some interesting back-lit shots. Here is an Aer Lingus A320 following another contrail on the same airway above a sea of clouds.
It was quite hard to take photos into the sun because it made all the dirt and ice crystals on the window visible.
And finally, just south of Paris an Air Canada A330 passes 3,000 ft below us routing YUL-GVA.
I hope you enjoyed the photos.
Regards,
James.
